Identity design for the pop band butterthief. The band takes it's name from a story of the the young god Krishna's mischievous behavior.
The first concepts included a custom typeface referencing the written version of Sanskrit, Devanagari, which connects its characters at their tops, a visual play on the idea of stolen letters, and some of the Krishna religious iconography: a peacock feather.
The final logo incorporates the connectedness of Devanagari with the peacock feather iconography.
An alternate version places the type treatment on the feather and adds some additional common imagery in Krishna paintings, the small flowers.
